Introduction
The Department of English at KIU Diamer Campus Chilas offers a comprehensive
Bachelor of Science (BS) in English Linguistics and Literature program. This four-year
program delves into the intricacies of the English language, equipping students with
a strong foundation in linguistic theory, literary analysis, and critical thinking skills.
Vision:
The Department envisions cultivating well-rounded individuals who possess a
profound understanding of the English language and its diverse applications. The
program aims to empower students to excel in their academic, professional, and

The Department’s mission is to provide high-quality education in English Linguistics and
Literature. It strives to foster critical thinking, effective communication, and
intercultural competence among students. By equipping students with the necessary
skills and knowledge, the program aims to transform them into skilled language users,
discerning readers, and insightful writers.
Objectives:
The specific objectives of the department are:

  1. Linguistic Competence: To develop a strong understanding of linguistic theory,
    including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
  2. Literary Analysis: To cultivate the ability to analyze literary texts critically,
    exploring themes, characters, literary devices, and historical and cultural
    contexts.
