Diamer campus, Chilas was established in February 2018 in compliance of Higher Education Commission (HEC) vision 2025 to establish University campus in every District in Pakistan. There was a huge local demand and the dire need of time to provide higher education and techno vocational trainings to the people of Diamer District including Kohistan. The establishment of the campus was inevitable in order to meet the local demand for the higher education, to address the education constrains for women of the region, prepare human resource for mega project like Diamer Basha Dam, and CPEC.

Diamer Campus aims to explore the indigenous resources through research and high education. In the regard, initially, three academic departments and an institute of continuing education were proposed in phase-1 namely:

  • Department of Education
  •  Department of Business Management
  •  Department of Sociology
  •  Institute of continuing Education (ICE) for diploma and certificate courses.

However in future Forestry, Agriculture, Law, Computer Science, food & Nutrition and Hospitality & Tourism management are on priority to be started.
Existence of Dimer Campus ensures provisions of higher education to the youth of Diamer and Kohistan at their doorsteps. This facility will not only attract the young generation towards higher Education but also contribute towards improving socio economics condition.

Diamer District is one of the districts of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. It is the district through which the Karakoram Highway passes so it is known as a gateway to Gilgit-Baltistan. Capital of the district is Chilas.
Diamer District is bounded by Astore District in the east, by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the southwest (separated by the Babusar Pass or Babusar Top), Neelum District in the south, the Ghizer District in the north and northwest, and the Gilgit District in the north and northeast.
